ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. —St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s office is advising drivers to avoid I-55 North and South starting at milepost 22. Roads are shut down due to a multi-car accident.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes. Traffic is being diverted to U.S. Highway 51.

Three 18-wheelers were involved in the accident and at least two were fully engulfed in flames.

St. John the Baptist Parish, Sheriff Tegre has confirmed that 2 people have died, around 30 people are injured and 100 cars were involved in the crash.
